Website Privacy Policy

Effective August 13, 2026 · Last updated August 13, 2026

Altera Pharmacy, PLLC (“Altera Pharmacy,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) respects your privacy and is committed to protecting information you provide when using alterapharmacy.com. This policy explains what we collect through our public website, how we use and protect it, and your choices. It does not replace our HIPAA Notice of Privacy Practices, which governs protected health information connected with pharmacy services.

1. Information You Provide

You may provide your name, telephone number, email address, message, or other information when requesting a prescription-transfer callback, contacting us, or requesting service information.

Do not submit medication names, prescription numbers, diagnoses, insurance information, Social Security numbers, payment-card information, or other sensitive health information through a general website form. A callback request does not complete a transfer; our team will contact you through an appropriate channel.

2. Protected Health Information

Individually identifiable health information received or maintained in connection with pharmacy services may be protected by HIPAA, the Texas Medical Records Privacy Act, and other laws. Its use and disclosure are governed by our HIPAA Notice of Privacy Practices. You may request a copy using the contact information below.

3. RxLocal Patient Portal

Our website links to RxLocal, where patients may request refills, review prescription information, receive notifications, communicate with us, and manage medications. RxLocal’s terms, privacy practices, and security measures may also apply. Use RxLocal—not a general form or ordinary email—to communicate sensitive health information.

4. Automatically Collected Information

Our hosting, security, and technical providers may collect limited information such as IP address, browser and device type, operating system, access date and time, requested pages, referring website, and diagnostic, performance, or security information. We use it to operate, secure, troubleshoot, and improve the site and prevent fraud or abuse, not to make decisions about pharmacy care.

5. Cookies

Our website and providers may use cookies or similar technologies necessary for operation, security, forms, preferences, and WordPress administration or session management. We do not use cookies or tracking technologies for targeted advertising. You may block or delete cookies in your browser, but blocking essential cookies may affect functionality.

6. How We Use Information

7. How We Disclose Information

We may disclose information to vendors that host, maintain, secure, or operate the website or deliver communications, only as necessary for their services. When a vendor handles protected health information on our behalf, we address the relationship as HIPAA requires, including a Business Associate Agreement when applicable. We may also disclose information as required or permitted by law, in a lawful business transaction subject to applicable privacy laws, or at your direction or with valid consent or authorization.

8. No Sale or Targeted Advertising

Altera Pharmacy does not sell personal information obtained through this website. We do not share website personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising or targeted advertising.

9. Analytics and Advertising Technologies

We do not currently use Meta Pixel, Google Analytics, session-replay software, advertising pixels, or similar behavioral-tracking technologies. Before adding one, we will evaluate what it collects, where it goes, whether protected health information may be involved, and whether an agreement or authorization is required. A cookie banner or policy disclosure alone does not authorize disclosure of protected health information.

10. External Services

Our site may link to or embed RxLocal, Apple App Store, Google Play, Google Maps, Google Fonts, or other external services. They may receive technical information such as IP address, device information, or referring page. Their policies govern their independent practices; we do not control them.

11. Email and Form Security

Ordinary email and public forms may not provide the protections of a secure portal. Do not send medication names, prescription numbers, diagnoses, insurance details, Social Security numbers, payment information, or sensitive medical information through them. For prescription matters, call us or use RxLocal.

12. Data Security and Retention

We use reasonable administrative, physical, and technical safeguards, which may include access controls, monitoring, security updates, vendor management, and encrypted transmission where appropriate. No internet system is completely secure.

We retain website information only as reasonably necessary to respond, provide services, maintain required records, secure systems, resolve disputes, enforce agreements, and comply with law. Different periods may apply to pharmacy records and protected health information.

13. Children

This general-audience site is not designed to collect information directly from children under 13. A parent or guardian may contact us about a child. If we learn a child submitted information without appropriate authorization, we will take reasonable steps to delete it when legally permitted.

14. Your Choices and Texas Privacy Rights

Subject to applicable law, you may ask what website information we maintain, correct inaccurate contact information, request deletion, withdraw consent for future communications, or ask about our practices. We may verify identity and retain information required for healthcare, legal, security, or recordkeeping purposes. Protected-health-information requests are handled under our HIPAA Notice.

Texas residents may have additional rights. Some HIPAA-governed information, entities, and processing may be exempt from parts of general consumer-privacy laws. If an applicable request is denied, you may ask us to reconsider by stating that you wish to appeal. We will not retaliate for a request or complaint.

15. HIPAA Complaints

Contact us for questions about protected health information, our HIPAA Notice, or a HIPAA right. You may also complain to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Office for Civil Rights. We will not retaliate for filing a complaint.

16. Policy Changes

We may update this policy for changes in our website, services, vendors, or legal obligations. We will post the revision here with a new “Last Updated” date. Material changes apply prospectively unless otherwise required or permitted by law.
